Fabienne Goerens

My name is Fabienne Goerens, I was born in 1974. I knew very early on that I would choose the path of art. I started my career in Limperberg at the Lycée des Arts et Métiers, with sculpture. I then went to Liège to the Académie des beaux-arts and did my master’s degree in sculpture. In between, I used the last year to do an exchange year in Valencia at the Universitat Polytechnica de Valencia UPV (Spain).

Today I work at a secondary school to pass on my passion for shapes and colours.

I have been part of a collective of six sculptors since 2009. We meet regularly and work mainly with wood. Recently we have also been successfully casting bronze. In this studio there is also a little bit of ceramics, which became a passion of mine after my studies.
I have had various exhibitions in Luxembourg, Belgium, France and Germany.

Today I work mainly with wood and ceramics. My sculptures always retain a residual academicism that results from my studies at the academy. I find my themes in nature, either in the animal world or simply in the human world. I mainly carved with a chainsaw. I then colour different pieces to accentuate my theme.
