Visual artist Peggy Wauters explains that she can paint things faster than she can say them. For her, painting is a language that she can speak and think. What is striking about her works is the cheerful way in which she shows the gentle cruelty of everyday life, always with a humorous approach. Her paintings come in all sizes, so she dares to be very small, but also very large. In terms of content and form, it is broadly diversified: from simple family snapshots and bleak landscapes to disturbed dreams and downright nightmarish fantasies. Her oeuvre bears witness to a harshly illuminated reality and surrealism.
